griffin, b, and
i joined my parents and aunt in aruba in mid october. aruba is a small
island (approximately 17 by 3 mi.) just 20 miles north of venezuela.
it was first settled by europeans in the 16th century. of course this
meant the displacement of indigenous people who have lived on the
island for hundreds of years prior...
this first page
is the travel brochure aruba. we start with the most common views
i had during my stay, as i lay back and relaxed in the hot sun on
the incredible beaches. the california lighthouse, three scenes from
orejanstad, the island's capitol, built in a distinctly european (dutch)
style follow. the bottom two photos are from the alto vista chapel,
a popular point of pilgramige for the island's inhabitants.
